David's most effective fundraising strategies:
1. Confidence and the way you put your story together. Don't be too humble. What is the story that is stretching? What is the version of reality you want to create. 2. Storytelling is not a big enough story. Join Toastmasters. Own and be passionate about what you're doing. 3. A lot of Canadian and US investors want to see US penetration. Does your business have legs? 4. Put yourself in the shoes in the investor. 5. Persistence.

Parting advice for companies going through an acquisition: You have to be very careful and think about all the things that matter to you... Are you prepared for the shift? Think about your mindset, your motivation. A lot of people come in and congratulate themselves for the acquisition. Reputation matters. It's not just about making money. You're much better off fulfilling your obligation.
